A deep blue sky, sparsely dotted with faint white wisps of clouds, occupies the upper two-thirds of the frame. Along the horizon, a dense line of trees consists of dark green coniferous evergreens interspersed with numerous bare, slender deciduous trees, some exhibiting light-colored trunks. The lower third of the image is covered by a substantial layer of white snow.
