Carved into its surface, in raised capital letters, is an inscription. The inscription reads: "IN LOVING MEMORY OF ARTHUR FREDERICK WILLIAM BELOVED SON OF JACQUES AND ELMIRA WHITTALL BORN 18TH AUGUST 1886.
