The scene depicts an inlet in Ha Tu Ward, Vietnam, under an overcast grey sky. In the foreground, a concrete embankment with hexagonal block patterns slopes down to a muddy, debris-strewn shoreline on the right. To the left, a large, steep limestone karst, heavily vegetated with green foliage, dominates the midground. At the base of this karst, a narrow strip of dark, muddy land with sparse dry vegetation features a small, dilapidated stone structure.
