The image displays the Unisphere, a large, open-work stainless steel globe sculpture, situated in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Queens, New York City. The sculpture, predominantly dark gray and silhouetted by bright sunlight from the upper right, depicts the Earth's continents and lines of latitude and longitude. In the immediate foreground, a broad, empty concrete basin, light blue in hue and appearing to be a drained fountain or reflecting pool, occupies the lower portion of the frame. This basin is demarcated by a circular arrangement of light blue interconnected plastic barriers with circular cutouts. Behind the Unisphere and across the mid-ground, a line of deciduous trees displays autumn foliage in shades of orange and brown. To the far right, beyond the trees, a distinctive cylindrical, tiered architectural structure (identified as the New York State Pavilion) rises against the skyline. The sky is partly cloudy, and a small airplane is visible in the upper left quadrant. No individuals or active subjects are present in the scene.
