Dense tree foliage, appearing dark green to nearly black due to backlighting, frames the scene. In the upper portion, a dark, overcast sky with grey-blue clouds is visible. Below this, a distinct band of brilliant orange, yellow, and red light illuminates the horizon through an opening in the trees, indicating the position of the setting or rising sun.
