Within a historic stone structure in Cuenca, Spain, a recessed stone relief sculpture depicting a full-length human figure is displayed behind a protective clear glass panel

CuencaSpain

Within a historic stone structure in Cuenca, Spain, a recessed stone relief sculpture depicting a full-length human figure is displayed behind a protective clear glass panel. The figure's head and crossed hands are rendered in a lighter, fine-grained stone, possibly alabaster or marble. The head is covered by a close-fitting cowl or veil, framing a stylized face that gazes forward. The hands are positioned right over left at chest level. The figure's long, draped robe is carved from a darker, rough-textured stone, forming the primary body of the relief. The display case is set into a wall of large, light-brown, irregular stone blocks. An old wooden beam is visible above the sculpture within the case. Reflections on the glass panel obscure some detail and show a faint golden-framed rectangular object to the right of the figure. The immediate background behind the sculpture inside the case appears to be a light, granular surface. The surrounding environment consists of similar aged stone walls, with a dark rectangular panel affixed to the wall on the right side of the frame.
