Andong-siSouth Korea

This forensic description details the base of a large, ancient deciduous tree located in Andong-si, South Korea. The tree exhibits a heavily gnarled, textured trunk with bark in shades of dark brown, grey, and reddish-brown, displaying deep fissures and some patches of lichen. The lower section of the trunk is extensively hollowed out, forming multiple large, cavernous openings and internal spaces. The ground within these hollows and immediately surrounding the tree's base is covered in light-colored sand or fine gravel, illuminated by sunlight that creates distinct shadows. Darker soil with sparse green vegetation and prominent exposed roots is present around the sandy area. A small white sign with Korean text, translating to "Do not litter," and an associated graphic is visible on the sand near the base of the tree. Through an opening on the left side of the trunk, a wooden fence is partially visible in the background, adorned with numerous white hanging objects, likely textiles or prayer ribbons. Overhead, bare tree branches are silhouetted against a clear, light blue sky. No individuals or direct interactions are depicted in the scene.
