Five freshly caught fish are suspended from a rough wooden beam in Blangriek, Indonesia
Five freshly caught fish are suspended from a rough wooden beam in Blangriek, Indonesia. The arrangement includes three fish identified as snakeheads (Channa species) and two fish identified as catfish (Clarias species) based on their morphology and prominent barbels on the latter. The leftmost snakehead is impaled through its upper jaw/head by a thin, dark, flexible rod or organic material which is then looped over the wooden beam, supporting its weight. The other fish appear to be strung together or individually secured. All fish display characteristics consistent with being recently deceased, with open mouths on several specimens. The wooden beam shows signs of weathering. Below the suspended fish, the ground surface is unpaved dirt or packed earth, featuring scattered debris including two halved coconut shells, a yellow circular dish containing a light-colored granular substance, and a dark piece of fabric or plastic, along with other unidentifiable detritus. The scene is illuminated by natural light, casting subtle shadows.
