A large, horizontal bas-relief sculpture is mounted on a light beige wall

SofiaBulgaria

A large, horizontal bas-relief sculpture is mounted on a light beige wall. The relief depicts a charioteer driving a two-wheeled chariot pulled by two horses. The charioteer, positioned on the right side of the relief, is rendered in profile, leaning forward with outstretched arms holding reins. Drapery flows backward from the charioteer, suggesting motion. Two horses, also in profile, are depicted on the left, shown in a dynamic, galloping pose with legs extended. The entire relief is monochromatic, carved from a light-colored material, likely stone or plaster, and set within a raised rectangular frame. The inscription "HELMIRA BOZNE" is partially visible on the lower right portion of the relief, below the chariot's wheel. Above the bas-relief, a ceiling composed of square, reflective light-colored tiles extends overhead, illuminated by two square, flush-mounted light fixtures. Below the relief, a light grey concrete ledge forms a horizontal barrier. Beyond this ledge, a lower level of a public transport area is visible, specifically a metro station platform or walkway, identified by a grey floor, a distinct yellow safety line, and metal railings. This artwork is located within the Serdika II Metro Station in Sofia, Bulgaria.
