The scene is set outdoors in Ikot Mbonde, Nigeria. A large cluster of approximately 30-40 unripe, green plantains or bananas rests on the ground amidst dense foliage. The fruit remains attached to a thick, freshly cut green stem, which rises vertically from the center. Three distinct hands (bunches) of the fruit are visible. One plantain, located in the lower right portion of the main cluster, exhibits an irregular, partially consumed section, exposing a pale brown, fibrous interior. The ground surrounding the fruit is covered with various organic materials, including large, dried, brown leaves, consistent with fallen banana or plantain leaves, and numerous living green plants. These include broad-leafed plants, slender green blades of grass, and thin vines intertwining through the vegetation. Yellowed leaves are visible in the background. No individuals or animals are present.
