This image depicts the interior of Ulm Minster (Ulmer Münster) in Ulm, Germany, specifically focusing on the elaborate Gothic-era pulpit. The scene is dominated by massive, light-grey stone pillars supporting high, pointed arches and ribbed vaulting that form the cathedral's ceiling. Natural light illuminates the upper sections of the walls, creating bright patches, while artificial pendant lights with multiple bulbs hang from the vaulted ceiling. The primary subject is a highly ornate, intricately carved dark wooden pulpit positioned against a large pillar on the right side of the frame. Its hexagonal base features detailed relief carvings of figures in niches. A decorative, dark-stained stone spiral staircase with an openwork balustrade leads up to the pulpit. Surmounting the pulpit is an exceptionally tall, spire-like wooden canopy (tester) extending almost to the ceiling, also covered in intricate Gothic tracery and finials. A reddish-brown color, possibly paint or an aged pigment, is present on the pillar surface directly above and behind the pulpit's canopy. To the left, a stone statue of a robed figure stands on an elaborately carved pedestal attached to another large pillar. Further right, behind the pulpit, multiple stained-glass windows displaying vibrant blue, red, and yellow patterns are visible. Below these windows and to the right of the pulpit, several circular, ornate gold and dark-colored plaques or medallions are mounted on the stone wall. A modern black light stand with a single light source is visible on the floor near the base of a pillar. At the bottom center of the image, several indistinct individuals are partially visible, suggesting the presence of visitors or congregants within the cathedral space. No specific actions or interactions among them are discernible.
