San IldefonsoSpain

This scene is located within an opulent interior in San Ildefonso, Spain, likely the Royal Palace of La Granja. Centrally positioned on a serpentine-fronted console table is an ornate Neoclassical-style mantel clock, crafted from white marble and extensively adorned with gilt bronze (ormolu). The clock's rectangular base features gilt bronze grilles against red backgrounds, surmounted by an upper structure comprising black fluted columns and white marble elements that support a white circular dial with black Roman numerals and minute markers, indicating approximately 11:58. The dial also bears the inscription "F. P. Paris." A small gilt bird figure crowns the clock's apex. The console table beneath the clock has a polished reddish-brown veined marble top and a heavily gilded, carved base. The base displays elaborate scrolls, foliage, and a lion's head motif on its right side. Behind this arrangement, a large oil painting in an elaborate gilt frame hangs on a light-colored wall. Only the lower portion of the painting is visible, depicting dark-shoed feet and a section of a blue garment belonging to a subject, set against a dark background. A faint inventory number "573" is visible on the wall below the painting's frame on the left.
